Within a year it became apparent that there were a number of other drugs which fell into the same category (available in the US but not elsewhere). The need to expand the medications available beyond that of those used to treat AIDS resulted in the change of name to GLOBALRx in 1997, a trade-marked name used since that time. GLOBALRx has 9 employees based in North Carolina and New York with annual sales approaching $10 million. GLOBALRx is proud to have the following licenses: NC Pharmacy License 07264, DEA Export License, and NC Distributor License NC12.
GLOBALRx is dedicated to a process of continual improvement. Due to the changes in our industry and the risk of counterfeit and diversion, we strive to elevate ourselves beyond minimal requirements. Since 2016, we have become ISO 9001:2015 Certified and Good Distribution Practices (GDP) compliant. Although neither of these are mandated, we chose to pursue them to enhance our quality and patient safety. In addition, we have added a full-time Compliance Manager to our staff and have designated our Clinical Pharmacist as the Responsible Person.
Each year for the past 10 years we have given 2% of our net profits to charitable causes. This year it will be 3%. Charities supported include Oxfam, UN AIDS (the United Nations organization fighting against HIV), the Nature Conservancy, the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club and Camp Putnam Fresh Air Fund Camp (New Braintree, MA). In addition, two scholarships have been established at Hampden-Sydney College in VA and the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy. Additional significant support has been provided to the Foothills Conservancy in Morganton, NC and the Carolina Mountains Conservancy in Hendersonville, NC.
