Yohimbine
Purpose of Medication and Method of Action
Yohimbine may increase blood flow to the penis and decrease blood outflow thus assisting in the development and maintenance of an erection.
Side Effects
Yohimbine when taken orally may produce dizziness, headache, and skin flushing.
Drug Interactions
Because Viagra (seldinafil) also has similar side effects, the possibility that the two drugs taken together may increase the incidence of side effects (additive effect) needs to be strongly considered.
Cautions and Contraindications
Use with caution in presence of gastric ulcer disease and with antidepressants.
Usual Dose
One tablet (5.4 mg) three times a day. The occurrance of side effects may require a starting dose of 1/2 tablet increasing to one tablet as side effects disappear.
