Wellbutrin (Bupropiion)
Purpose of Medication and Method of Action
Wellbutrin is used to treat depression.
Side Effects
A substantial proportion of patients will experience increased restlessness, agitation, anxiety, and insomnia, particularily after beginning therapy. In only 2% of patients were those symptoms severe enough to require discontinuation of Wellbutrin. Other less common side effects are: itching of skin, nausea, abnormal dreams, and blurred vision.

Cautions and Contraindications
Wellbutrin should not be used in those with a history of a seizure disorder. As Zyban is similar to Wellbutrin, the two drugs should not be used together.
Usual Dose
200 mg (two tablets) increasing to 300 mg/day (1 tablet three times a day) thereafter.
