Synera (Lidocaine, Tetracaine) - Ferndale
Purpose of Medication and Method of Action
Synera for skin analgesia. This unique product combines lidocaine and tetracaine in a topical patch which when opened, generates heat to increase the absorption of the two anesthetic drugs. It has been approved for use on intact skin to provide dermal analgesia for superficial venous access and superficial dermatological procedures such as excision, electrodessication, and shave biopsy of skin lesions.
Side Effects
Side effects consist of erythema (71%), blanching (12%) and edema (12%) at the application site.
