Rhophylac (Anti-D)

Purpose of Medication and Method of Action

This drug is given in pregnancy to prevent Rh isoimmunization in non-sensitized Rho(D)-negative women.  It is also indicated for Rh prophylaxis in cases of obstetric complications or invasive procedures during pregnancy.  It is also indicated to raise platelet counts in patients with chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura.
