Propecia (Finasteride)
Purpose of Medication and Method of Action
Propecia is indicated for the treatment of male pattern baldness. It mechanism iof action is to reduce the circulating levels of testosterone which is increased in hair follicles of those with male pattern baldness. This drug takes up to 1 year of use for maximum effectiveness to occur. Upon discontinuation, hair loss will be resumed.
Side Effects
Drowsiness, blurred vision, The most common side effects which are very rare are: decreased libido (1.5%0, erectile dysfunction (1%), and an ejaculation disorder (1%).dry mouth, dizziness.

Usual Dose
1 mg (1 tablet daily) with or without meals.
