Piracetam (Nootropyl)
Purpose of Medication and Method of Action
Piracetam is used as a non-specific brain stimulant. It has been used to treat conditions with impaired memory and specific learning disabilities. It has also been used to treat dyslexia. This drug has been available for over 20 years in Europe. There are few controlled clinical trials that demonstrate its effectiveness in any of the conditions for which it is currently used.
