Flomax (Tamsulosin)
Purpose of Medication and Method of Action
Flomax is indicated for the treatment of urinary retention due to prostatic hypertrophy (BPH, enlarged prostate). It acts by blocking adrenergic receptors in the prostate thus decreasing muscle tone and making urination easier.
Side Effects
The most common side effects are: weakness, dizziness, drowsiness, and runny nose.

Cautions and Contraindications
Flomax can produce a sudden drop in blood pressure - if you should suddenly feel dizzy upon arising, please contact your physician.
Usual Dose
0.4 mg (one capsule) each day 30 minutes after the same meal.
