Duradrin (Midrin)

Purpose of Medication and Method of Action

Duradrin is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of of tension and vascular headaches. Its mechanism of action is to constrict cerebral arteries, the dilation of which produces headaches.

Side Effects

The most common side effects are: transient dizziness and skin rashes.

Drug Interactions

None reported.

Cautions and Contraindications

Duradrin may increase blood pressure and should be used with caution in those with hypertension, peripheral vascular disease and recent heart attacks.

Usual Dose

The usual dose is two c apsules at once then one capsule every hour until relieved - not to exceed five capsules in 12 hours.
