Chemet (Succimer)
Purpose of Medication and Method of Action
Chemet is a heavy metal chelator and is primarily used in the treatment of excessive lead levels in the blood.
Side Effects
The most common side effects are gastrointestinal and include nausea, vomiting loss of appetite and a metallic taste in the mouth. Less common are: back pain, abdominal cramps, and headache.

None
Usual Dose
For lead chelation- 10 mg/kg every eight hours for 5 days reducing to every 12 hours for an additional 14 day.
