CeeNU (Lomustine)

Purpose of Medication and Method of Action

Lomustine is an antineoplastic drug used to treat certain types of cancer, specifically brain tumors and Hodgkins disease.

Side Effects

The most significant side effects are: depression of the bone marrow which produces anemia and low white blood cells. Nausea and vomiting may occur 3-5 hours after taking a dose - this disappears in 24 hours.

Cautions and Contraindications

Laboratory tests to monitor both bone marrow function and pulmonary function should be performed at regular intervals.

Usual Dose

100-130 mg/M2 every six weeks.
