Altabax (Retpamulin)
Purpose of Medication and Method of Action
This topical preparation has been approved for the treatment of children with impetigo due to methicillin-sensitive S. aureus and S. pygogenes. A controlled study resulted in successful reslution of the lesions in 85% of children treated with Altabax.
Side Effects
The most common side effect was local irritation.
Usual Dose
It is applied to the lesions twice daily for 5 days.
